We signed up for a Nature Exchange! How fun. We were matched up with a homeschooling family from Maryland. We were to gather some nature, box it up and send it on it's way. And then, we will receive a package of nature in return.

Over the past few weeks, we have gathered just a few little tid bits here and there.

We found these little containers which were perfect. We numbered each item.

Isaak labeled each collection and we also listed where we had found the object/s.

We also sent a map of California and circled where the objects came from on the map. Isaak worked on writing the To and From addresses.

We boxed it up and it's ready to be mailed out to Maryland.

What a great experience it has been. To actively think of another throughout the day. I often heard Isaak say "lets send this to Maryland!" He also chose to send a few things that were in OUR nature collection, which I thought a very generous act. We studied maps, discovered addresses, talked about the postal system. Fun I tell ya.

And we are so excited to receive our package and explore it's contents.

What else can we exchange? This little pen pal activity makes me long for more. We tried it a long while back, and it just never took off. But maybe now? Doesn't everyone love receiving goodie mail? Lets bring back the long lost art of letter writing and parcel sending! Who's in?

Yes Phyllis, we did. Thanks so much. It was great fun to open it up and see the treasures inside. And the egg carton was a great idea. Thanks again.
