a young, eager mind. pure. ready to explore. discover. investigate. armed with a new backpack, field guides, binoculars, magnifying glass, journal and varied art mediums. excited. inspired. our learning adventures begin. we set forth on this new journey of homeschooling... and think nature study rocks!

There is no kind of knowledge to be had in these early years so valuable to children as that which they get for themselves, of the world they live in. Let them at once get into touch with nature, and a habit is formed which will be a source of delight through life. We are all meant to be naturalists, each to his own degree, and it is inexcusable to live in a world too full of marvels of plant and animal life and to care for none of these things. We enjoyed studying nature with you!

i'd love to talk with you sometime about homeschooling...we are really struggling with what to do about schooling here in socal. the choices are dismal...but, then there is homeschooling...perhaps a beacon in the LAUSD darkness?
