i find unexpected beauty in the dim, quiet, cool moments before the sun rises and noah wakes and the trash trucks come and the traffic begins and the gardeners arrive and the neighbors shower and the coffee percolates.
i breathe them all in and hold my breath for as long as i can. when i exhale, the day begins.
